About Business Marketing & Finance

Business Marketing & Finance 1 & 2

Business Marketing & Finance will provide knowledge of communication, customer service, professional development for careers in business management, economics, personal finance, business management, business law, marketing, pricing, promotion, selling, product service management, distribution marketing planning, and sports, special events and entertainment marketing.

Students completing Business Marketing 2 meet the graduation requirement for .5 credits in Economics.

Students earn two regular weight credits for completing Year 1.  Students completing the 2-year program and earning the minimum required score on the Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ESB) national certification exam are awarded two E-2 credits.

Students have the opportunity to participate in DECA, a student organization whose purpose is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.  DECA provides students the opportunity  to be academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leaders.

National Technical Honor Society membership is available to students that maintain an overall 3.25 GPA, a 90 average in their program, are a member of their CTE student organization, and exemplify honesty, good attendance, good character, leadership, and responsibility.  NTHS honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. 

Mississippi Tech Master Scholars recognition is given to students that complete a 2-year CTE program and a prescribed academic curriculum, attain an ACT composite of 18 or higher, maintain a 2.5 GPA, contribute 80 hours of community service, pass the MS CPAS test, and exemplify good attendance and discipline.  See the CTE counselor for additional information. 

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College offers a New Century Skills Scholarship (click here) to students completing this 2-year program and enrolling as a first-time college student.  $750/semester is available for an overall 3. GPA, and $1500/semester is available for an overall 3.5.  See additional information at mgccc.edu.
