As the director
of the Harrison County Career and Technical Education Center I want to WELCOME you to our
website. As you tour the site you
will see that our students are very much involved in career and technical
organizations, leadership opportunities, competitive events, community events,
and hands-on activities. Be sure to click on each tab at the top of the page as you navigate the site.
I am so proud of these young people and privileged
that I have an opportunity to observe and interact with them on a day-to-day basis. I am inspired
by their creativity and encouraged by the career and educational goals they
establish for themselves while here at our center.
I have been with Harrison County School District since 1993. Prior
to entering the career of education I spent 10 years in the banking industry. I
am a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and hold a Master’s of
Education degree in social studies, psychology, counseling, and school administration. I am also a National Board Certified Counselor and National
Board Certified School Counselor.
One of my
favorite quotes is by the great Albert Einstein. Although a brilliant student, he became
frustrated and unchallenged in school. He later wrote that the “spirit of learning and creative thought was lost in strict rote learning”.
The Harrison County Career and Technical Education Center
opens wide the windows of opportunity for students who learn best
through demonstration, interaction, involvement, engaging activities, and hands-on educational
opportunities. We promote the "spirit of learning" and encourage our student’s "creative thought".
