DECA Students Make a Statement at District Competition
DECA Sponsors Mrs Julie Williamson and Mrs Stephanie Sullivan took 44 Harrison County Career and Technical Center DECA students (An Association of Marketing Students) to MGCCC-JD to compete at District competition on Tuesday Jan. 16th. Each student took a 100 question test in their event and role-played to solve a problem or handle a real world situation within their competitive area while meeting marketing indicators with judges. All the students from Harrison Central, West Harrison, and D’Iberville did an outstanding job of representing their chapter and schools. Harrison County DECA took home 17 first place, 10 second place, 3 third place, 2 fourth, and 2 fifth place wins. The first through fifth place winners along with the research written events, entrepreneurship written events and professional selling events will now be preparing to compete at the DECA State Career Development Conference Competition in Jackson, MS Feb. 14-16th. ALL 44 STUDENTS PLACED AND QUALIFIED TO ADVANCE TO STATE COMPETITION!

Savannah Crosby did an outstanding job of hosting district as part of her responsibility of MS DECA State Vice- President, and has qualified for five national DECA scholarships. Harrison County DECA had two members qualify to run for the MS State Action Team. Aniyah Oliver qualified to run for the 2018-2019 MS DECA State Action Team for MS DECA District Vice-President at state competition in February. Jake Cotton also qualified to run for the 2018-19 MS DECA State action team and will be running for MS DECA State Vice-President in February at State Competition. Posted Jan 31, 2018
