About Business Management

Business Management 1 & 2

Business Management includes an introduction to business and marketing fundamentals, communication, interpersonal skills, and professional development for continuing education, training, and careers in business management.  Major topics of study in the course include economics, business management, entrepreneurship, business law, and personal finance.  Students will develop skills necessary to meet requirements for the Microsoft Project Skills Standards for Microsoft Office Specialist Certification.

Students completing Business Management 1 meet the graduation requirement for .5 credits in Economics.

Students completing this 2-year program and have a combined average of 80% or higher on their Year-1 and Year-2 MS CPAS test are awarded two E-2 credits.

Students have the opportunity to participate in Future Business Leaders of America, whose purpose is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.

National Technical Honor Society membership is available to students that maintain an overall 3.25 GPA, a 92 average in their program, are a member of their CTE student organization, and exemplify honesty, good attendance, good character, leadership, and responsibility.  NTHS honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. 

Mississippi Tech Master Scholars recognition is given to students that complete a 2-year CTE program and a prescribed academic curriculum, attain an ACT composite of 18 or higher, maintain a 2.5 GPA, contribute 40 hours of community service, pass the MS CPAS test, and exemplify good attendance and discipline.  See the CTE counselor for additional information.

Mississippi Community Colleges may offer articulated credit for students completing this program with an 80% or higher average on the MS CPAS test and are first-time college students enrolling in the related program.  For additional information contact the Career & Technical department at the community college that you plan to attend.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College offers a Career/Tech Scholarship (click here) to students completing this 2-year program and enrolling as a first-time college student in one of their qualifying Career & Technical programs.  A full-tuition scholarship is available for an overall 3.0 GPA, and a half-tuition scholarship is available for an overall 2.0 GPA and an “A” average in the high school CTE program.  See additional information at mgccc.edu.
